SOO LOH

Chief Executive Officer

Soo was born in Malaysia, grew up in Hong Kong, was educated in Australia and now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. After her undergraduate degree, Soo returned to Hong Kong to work as an Engineer. She immigrated to Canada in 1994 and pursued her Master’s of Christian Studies at Regent College. Afterwards, she continued in engineering work. She has also earned a Master of Engineering, an Executive MBA and obtained P. Eng and CPA professional designations.

 

Soo brings more than 20 years’ experience in business analysis, project and operation management to increase organizations’ efficiency and profitability. She has also been the Director of Engineering Operations for a Fortune 16 company.

KEN HARON

Director for Partnerships and Development

Ken was born in Texas, studied broadcasting in Arkansas and currently resides in Colorado. He met his wife, Barb, in Ecuador, South America.

 

Ken has a diverse background in media production over three decades in the U.S., Latin America, and Asia. Ken was producer of a movie incorporating the first original Spanish language screenplay of Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol.” This award-winning Cancion de Navidad (1989) was broadcast across the USA and Latin America. Ken also wrote and directed Breakthrough: The Story of James O Fraser and the Lisu People (2008), winner of a Gold Remi award at the Houston Worldfest. Ken loves music, movies and on-going learning through cross-cultural relationships and experiences.

Don Howell

DIRECTOR for FINANCE​

Don was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and now resides in Kamloops, British Columbia. He holds a degree in Computing Science from the University of Alberta and earned his Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in 2014.

 

He was first introduced to OMF through his (now) wife, Sandi. After ten years of serving together as prayer partners, they joined OMF in 1992, committing their professional skills to support the Lord’s work in East Asia.

 

Don began his ministry as Electronic Data Processing Manager at OMF’s International Headquarters in Singapore, where he played a key role in modernizing administrative processes and implementing the Personnel Data System. From 1994 to 2004, he contributed to the design, development, and management of the International Finance System (IFS). During his time in Singapore, he also engaged in friendship evangelism by teaching Conversational English to Chinese scholars at the National University of Singapore.

 

Since 2005, Don has served at the OMF Canada National Office in Mississauga in a variety of roles—first as Public Ministries Coordinator, then as Finance Manager, and later as Director of Finance and Administration. He recently stepped down from that role and now serves as an advisor to the current Director.

Ben Chan

Ben was born and grew up in Hong Kong. He has worked in the catering and food supply industry for more than 30 years, and has extensive experience in brand management, business development and corporate management of many well-known companies in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and other Asia countries, especially in start-up phases, and has also served as a non-executive director of listed companies.

 

In addition to an MBA, he holds a Master of Arts in Christian Studies and a Master in Marriage and Family Counseling Therapy. His experience also includes Christian bookstores in HK. He loves to travel, read, and has been married to his beautiful wife for over 22 years.

Alice Yu

Communications Coordinator

Alice was born and raised in Hong Kong and currently lives in Vancouver, Canada.

 

Alice holds a Master’s degree in Cognitive Developmental Psychology and a Master’s in Counselling, both completed in Canada.  With over 25 years of experience as a counsellor in both Canada and Hong Kong, she has served individuals and families across diverse cultural contexts. She led a multicultural counselling team at a non-profit organization in Hong Kong for 12 years before transitioning to private practice.

 

Over the years, Alice has also been actively involved in local churches in various roles, including deacon, department leader, church publication editor, pulpit interpreter, Bible study leader, and food bank volunteer. In 1998, she participated in a short-term mission trip to China with MSI.

 

Bilingual in English and Chinese, Alice brings a heart for cross-cultural communicationand using her skills to build bridges across communities. She enjoys travel, experiencing other cultures and continuous learning.
